Quadricentennial River Days Go On with Tug & Barge Tour!

Tug & BargeSpend Labor Day at Waryas Park on a historic barge seeing circus acts! On Monday, September 7th, Dutchess County continues their commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the Hudson River's discovery. This special celebration commences at 11am when the tugboat Pegasus and Lehigh Valley barge first arrive at the waterfront in Poughkeepsie. A diverse group of vendors will set up at the park with an assortment of concessions, plus activities and crafts for kids.

BargeThe historic Pegasus is tugging the Lehigh Valley No.79 barge for the day, providing tours of the Hudson River and circus entertainment. The Pegasus, which was active in both world wars, dates back to 1907 and has an extensive history of travel in the New York and New Jersey area. Circus acts of all kinds are taking place on the barge. Acrobats, clowns, jugglers and aerialists abound in the varied performances. Several of the performers in the show include Billy Bones the Good Pirate, Sophie Sharps on the trapeze, and David Sharps, Chinese Vase Manipulation. A tug boat tour on the Pegasus begins at 1pm. Entertainment on the barge is at Barge inside3pm and 6pm.

Tickets to the "circus show" are $10 in advance ($15 at event if available), and $5 for children. Tug tour is rain or shine, donations suggested. There is limited availability for tours and circus entertainment, so be sure to order tickets in advance via Paypal: www.thehubhv.com
